"When Alex and Selina first told me about their academy and the intensive experience they were creating, everything about it made sense. These dedicated and exceptional professionals have created a truly vital program which will instil the values that are the back bone of their work but also sees them through their everyday lives. With a clear mission to inspire, motivate and create; all aspects I have seen and admired in them individually, the students will also gain the tools and the understanding of endurance, and longevity. In a world that sees some become an “over night success”, there is tremendous value and also great pride in taking your time. Time to create a strong foundation, to discover who you are; the type of artist or person you aspire to be and become the best you can be.
To be asked to be patron of this wonderful academy and support two outstanding women who I can also call friends is my honour and privilege. To have been in their presence on a job that has been one of the highlights of our careers, there is no doubt that you truly are in the hands of the best. Both Alex and Selina have been thriving in the industry performing while also playing an instrumental part in the vocational sector and institutes. They have the advantage of currently being in the industry, and knowing firsthand what it is to work in the industry right now whilst also being able to nurture and guide the next generation into what they can expect and how to navigate such an exciting field. Having worked with Selina eight years prior to this engagement, her growth and tenacity has gone from strength to strength, solidifying and honing all she has to offer. Whilst this year Alex stepped out of her comfort zone and took on more responsibility in our show Anything Goes. These fearless individuals do not limit themselves and are constantly learning and growing; gifts they will undoubtedly pass on to these young impressionable minds who join the academy.
As patron of West End Arts Academy, my promise is to uphold and instil all the qualities that Alex and Selina have built this invaluable company on. To elevate the students and it’s founders as individuals, to strive to return and delve into the more enduring work whilst being on hand for a simple chat too. As someone who is passionate about giving back to the outreach community and seeing that grassroots programs are afforded the same opportunities as those more privileged, I will endeavour to pursue this accessibility and give as much time as I am able to. I know Alex and Selina will strive to give their students the very best training and experience as they know no other way and I whole heartedly support them in this new adventure.
Warm wishes and his to this exciting adventure.
